Building a better spoon
This is a reply to the following Daitu prompt:
While dining at a local restaurant, V and his companions witness an argument between a paunchy noble and a grizzled wizard. The former believes nothing could improve the simple spoon; the latter insists that magic can make anything better, and even a beginning student at Diatu could demonstrate that.
At which point V is promptly singled out for proof, with a substantial bet between the two men on the line.
If V chooses to pursue this opportunity, please respond to this comment when a Better Spoon has been developed for the next stage of this adventure.

End result.
A spork.
Yep. A spoon that can also be used to stab annoying party members. Or, you know, food.
However, this is about magic, not simple structural engineering. So in addition to being a spoon with teeth at the tip, the spoon now also rolls to detect temperature of the substance it is being put into and on a successful roll does the following:
Above freezing: the bowl of the spoon and the tips heats enough to melt the substance, making scooping ice cream easier and making ice carving a viable use for a spoon.
Cold but not freezing: The bowl of the spoon chills to keep whatever you were eating cold while the spoon is resting in it, and to give you the optimal temperature for consumption.
Room temperature/ cool/ warm: It... is a spoon.... with teeth
Hot/ boiling: the handle chills, and the bowl heats so that you do not burn yourself lifting the spoon but your food or brew stays hot when the spoon is within it.
And because it is OOTS, and V, there is one more small feature. V would advise the wizard to, under no circumstances, look at the bottom of the handle. But that if the ignorant nobel should choose to protest the viability of this answer, then that noble is to turn the spoon over and find the final proof scribed on the underside of the handle.
That proof, of course, says "I have prepared explosive runes today...."
Which goes about as well as one might expect.
